Two Notes Torpedo VB101

Sunday, 25 January 2009 00:00

"I'm proud to write my first blog article to introduce a really cool product: Two Notes Torpedo VB101.

It looks like a guitar multieffect, but it's not a multieffect. It looks like a rackmount sampler, but it's not a rackmount sampler. So what's the hell is it?

Two Notes Torpedo VB101

In a nutshell, this brand-new product lets you both record all your guitar (and bass) tracks silently and cranking your valve amp without getting your neighbour call the police! It's like the well-known Palmer PDI-03, but the Torpedo VB101 is a big step further as it offers really more cool features such as guitar cabinet, and microphone simulation in one package!

Two Notes Torpedo VB101

The unit is directly connected to the speaker output of an guitar amplifier, eliminating the need to mic up a speaker cab.

Main specs :

  • 8 ohms input
  • Max admissible power : 150W RMS
  • DI output without AD/DA conversion
  • 16 speaker simulations (guitar and bass, 8+8),
  • 32 different speakers.
  • 8 microphones simulation
  • AES/EBU and S/PDIF Inputs/Outputs
  • 24 bits, 192 kHz AD and DA converters
  • 32 bits floating point, 96 kHz internal processing
  • etc....
This 2U rack is designed to work both in studio and live situation. Just plug your guitar amp into the Torpedo VB101 to feed your DAW, PA or wedge. You'll get total control over your sound!

Torpedo VB101 setup examples

Two Notes also makes available useful files for Torpedo users: Torpedo Remote and Torpedo Presets pack.

Torpedo Remote

It's a piece of software to control the Torpedo from your computer. It's available for download from Two Notes' website (Windows XP/Vista and MAC OSX compatible)

Torpedo Capture

Torpedo Capture software lets you record your own cabinet to be used within the Torpedo VB101. Mic your favourite guitar cab, send it into the Torpedo VB101 unit through Torpedo Capture and use your brand new guitar cab simulation into any recording situation!!! So exciting!!! As long as I know, Two Notes will make it available during year 2009.

To sum it up

A loadbox, guitar cab and studio microphone simulations and extended flexibility for use in studio and live situation in a 2U box. A new milestone in guitar recording technique? Yes probably!"
